Und auch auf der Homepage jeden bekloppten Milliardärs mit Bond-Bösewicht-Charme bestimmt noch etwas die lange – oder kurze – Verweildauer: Der Algorithmus. Er trifft die Vorauswahl, diktiert unsere Sehgewohnheiten, und dank ständiger Verfügbarkeit schauen wir ganz viel, sehen aber selten wirklich hin. Welche Bedeutung hat da noch ein Kurzfilmfestival? Wir sagen: Kuration!Kino kann, darf und will Raum für neue Perspektiven geben und damit unterschiedlichste Realitäten greifbar machen. Diese transformative Leistung lässt uns binnen Sekunden die Welt durch andere Augen sehen. INTERFILM hat es sich in seiner diesjährigen 39. Ausgabe zur Aufgabe gemacht, dem maschinengesteuerten Einheitsbrei präzise kuratierte Programme, brandaktuelle Themen und haltungsstarke Kurzfilme entgegenzusetzen… und ganz nebenbei die pure Lust am Film, an der Unterhaltung und am Kino als sozialem Ort nicht zu vergessen.

It makes the preselection, dictates our viewing habits, and thanks to constant availability we watch loads, but rarely really
look. What significance does a short film festival still have? We say: curation!Cinema can, may and will provide space for new perspectives and thus make the most diverse realities tangible. This transformative act allows us to see the world through different eyes within seconds. In this year’s 39th edition, INTERFILM has set itself the task of countering the machine- driven monotony with precisely curated programmes, socially-relevant topics and short films that take a stand… without forgetting the pure pleasure of film, entertainment and perceiving cinema as an actively social place.
